Scrapbooking with Misspelled Words

Yep, that's right. You are about to see a scrapbook page with an obvious misspelling. My problem was that I was starting in the middle and working backwards. I was really never good at that portion of cranium. Apparently my cranium just doesn't do backwards, and I'm okay with that. I did fix it, but it was after my photo. You all will forgive my mistake though, right?

So I've been in the scrapping mood lately, so since it hit I went for it. I just did a really simple layout about our trip to sPrinkles in Chicago.

Actually that night our entire dinner consisted of 4 Sprinkles cupcakes and popcorn from Garrets. I have to admit it was an AMAZING dinner.

Random question... anyone listen to classical music while they create? I did tonight, and for some reason I'm feeling rather creative (and productive). Maybe it's just a coincidence.

San Diego Scrapbook

Well, last night my sweet hubby took me to the Tennessee v. South Carolina game, and man what a game! Okay, so it rained, but it still was fantastic!

 Tonight I really wanted to start working again on my December Daily album, but I knew I really needed to finish up San Diego before I moved on. So here it is! If you want to see the beginning workings of this album check it out here.

One of my favorite things about this album was the envelopes. I wasn't sure how much I would use them, but I did! They have tickets, maps, business cards! I think they were functional and cute!

I'm going to have a busy week preparing for a women's event at church. I need to design 5 Christmas cards to teach 30+ women to make! I need to get to work!

We're Back!

We're back! And now I need a vacation! Unfortunately the ocean breeze did nothing for my allergies and I came back feeling worse than when I left, but thanks to liquid Aleve I was able to soak up all of the fun! We hit the zoo, Coronado Island, Torrey Pines, and of course the most important, two scrapbook stores! Woo hoo. I think I'll make a quick video about my experience at those stores. I did want to share this card I made awhile back. I actually really like it, so I'm not sure why I haven't shared it. I think it's my love of all things neutral.

I'm off to watch some football. Tennessee has an off week, so I'll have to cheer for my hubby's team tonight! Also, I can't wait to catch up on what all you've been up to this past week!

San Diego Scrapbook

I got my scrapbook finished right before we left for our trip (which I'm probably on by the time you read this). I did want to show you how it looks all together.

I love how messy it looks. I can't wait to show it you all finished! Also, the first time I posted this I didn't mention that I used a couple of envelopes. Envelopes are a great way to stick random stuff in, especially when you are toting it around on a trip. 

So I've packed my scrapbook up, my mono multi, my sissors, and my black su writer, and we're off to the zoo. No for real, we are going to the zoo.

Wow, sorry I meant to leave a message letting everyone know I would be gone for a couple of days. Hopefully you saw my twitter messages to the right and saw that I was in Atlanta! Chase and I really took a spur of the moment trip!

Also, I have a couple of updates on the closet. I got my little jewelry shelf together. The little hanger came from IKEA for $2.50. I did have to spray paint it. The little basket is going to be for Chase's watches etc.

We also got coat hangers! IKEA by far had the best price. Don't they look nice?

Chase got back from camp today, and I was able to take pictures of my finished scrapbook. I would say these last two pages were really inspired by Elise Blaha's blog. I love the way her mini books are 'true' scrapbooks. She is always adding things from stores, restaurants, etc.

I did come up with one little trip while I was making this. On each day, I made a little "day __" tab. I didn't have any clear cardstock, so I just took one of PTI clear boxes that they ship their stamps in, and it worked great!

I think I'm about to go wake up my sleeping husband. He's been out for about 4 hours now! I think he was exhausted.

I got in the mood to make some progress on my Chicago mini album. Unfortunately now my craft room looks like this:
And I'm one of those crafters that cleans after every project, so this is pretty out of hand for me.

I really have to thank Ali Edward for teaching me that scrapbooking doesn't have to be all 12x12 pages. And even if it is a 12x12 album you can up pages of any size inside. I actually love the way this mix matched sizes look in this mini book.


I decided to stick with a navy, white and black color scheme. And of course polka dots of all different sizes.
For a few of the journal pages I just printed off posts from my blog. It worked out perfectly.
I'm pretty happy with how it's going so far. I hope you all had a great Sunday.

We're back.

I think I forgot to mention on here that Chase and I were headed to Florida for a short trip. We just got back today, so there's been a lot of laundry and cleaning! So I'm back. I did have a chance to finish my card for Kwerner's challenge. Here's the colors:I used some of my recent American Craft Thicker shapes to make the focal point of this card. However, since they were originally white I just used my ink pad to change their color. I'm pretty happy with how it turned out.
I also wanted to show you how I made the punch beneath the birds. I could buy a ton of punches, but a lot of times I don't think I will use the more elaborate ones enough to justify the money or space. So I just punch the first row, and then use my crop a dile to punch more roles of holes. What do you think? Not too bad right? Lastly, remember my latest thickers find? Well, I'm sure it was the heat, but when I came home check out my vinyl thickers? Um, I don't think that's suppose to happen. Anyone else have this problem?

The Windy City.

Well, yesterday was catch up day at work. I had to work later than I normally do, but it was kind of fun getting back into "normal."

After looking through all of our pictures, we probably took the best pictures the very first day. And we also walked a million miles the first day too. We started off at toast for breakfast (recommended by my friend Mary Anna):
Don't you love that sign? Poor Chase was verbally assaulted by the manager for having a southern accent. I think he was pretty offended, but I think in reality she really liked him. I mean how cute is he? How can you not like him? In her exact words she said, "I didn't notice your accent (speaking to me) but you (to Chase) sound like you should be playing the banjo." I mean a banjo? Listen people, just because you're from Nashville and have an accent doesn't mean you play the banjo or like country music. Just saying.

From toast we took the el to Millennium Park. Can I just say that I love this bean? Why can't we have some cool art like that in Nashville? I heard it quoted while I was there, "Great art can make a city." I truely believe that, and I'm requested some kind of equally cool bean type art here. This is my official request. I'm sure the right people will heed my request.

The boys were too cool to do this, so Ashley and I did our own jumping picture.
There wasn't anything going on at the ampitheater, I just thought it looked so cool. I love repeating elements in photography...
After we did the magnificent mile and a lot of shopping... we had.... wait for it... wait for it...Pizza! So good. I loved it. Someone please tell me why they don't make this everywhere. So good. So that was day one... more coming soon.
