Embellish Challenge: Birds

Doesn't it feel good when your creative juices are flowing, especially after a serious break? It's so fun. So, I haven't done a challenge in... well forever (forever = 4 months). I thought I'd try out the latest Embellish challenge.
And here's what I came up with using several PCD sets.
1. Make card from cardstock.
2. Cut kraft paper slightly smaller, stamp birch background from Carved Love.
3. Sew around edge.
4. Adhere fabric tape and tie bow.
5. Adhere cardstock.
6. Die cut shape, stamp bird and sentiment.

Stamps: Carved Love, Nature's Wonder, Christmas Wonder (Practicing Creativity)
Cardstock: Kraft, Dark Chocolate, Vintage Cream (Papertrey Ink)
Ribbon: Dark Chocolate Swiss Dot (Papertrey Ink)
Ink: Blue Bayou (Stampin' Up), Burnt Umber (Palette)

Well happy Tuesday!

December Daily Cover

Just a heads up, our store site is currently down, but we are working hard to get it back up! If there is something you need asap, just email me. My email address is over on the right.

Today I wanted to show you the covers for my December Daily. If you didn't see my pages last week you can check them out here. For the cover I just started off with some chipboard and red acrylic paint.
It was a little too red for my liking so I covered it with some Tim Holtz Tea Dye to give it a little softer feel.
I used the large sentiments from Christmas Wonder to create a pattern on the cover, and again covered the entire thing with Tim Holtz Tea Dye.
This is hard to see in my final photo, but I used one of the verses from Rejoice! to create some text lines down the side. I really love the effect.

I added some white burlap, fabric tape, twine and a Tim Holtz Book Plate to finish it off.

Have a great Thursday!

More Fun Working with Patterns

Judith over at Jay Gee's Nook, who carries Practicing Creativity Stamps, asked me to be the guest designer over on their new blog. Of course I would, but when I saw this image I just go so excited. I know you'll want to play along with this challenge. Isn't it beautiful?
Love! I decided to mix several blues along with some cream and brown. Can you tell I'm a little in love with our houndstooth stamp and chevron ribbon? Two days in a row.
1. Make card from cardstock.
2. Cut slightly smaller piece of cardstock, stamp lower portion with houndstooth.
3. Punch stripe of cardstock, adhere.
4. Stamp sentiment.
5. Tie bow and adhere to card front.
6. Add buttons.

Stamps: Retro Christmas, Christmas Wonder (Practicing Creativity)
Ink: Soap Powder (Jenni Bowlin); Haystack, Burnt Umber (Palette)
Cardstock: Ivory, Dark Brown (Gina K); Blue Bayou  (Stampin' Up!)
Ribbon: Blue and White Chevron (May Arts)
Punch: Sunburst (Fiskars)

I hope you'll come play along, plus Jay Gee's is giving away The Whole Cycle to the challenge winner!

Practicing Creativity Release

I've been working away packing orders today, but I did want to drop in to show you some other cards the design team and I made this week. The one above is probably my favorite card that I made using Fall Fest, but I wanted to save it until I had a video tutorial to go along with it!

You can also view it on YouTube.

Here's a few other cards the Design Team made as well.

The Bald Dragonfly

I'm so excited for Karen and her first release with us! I just loved both of these card!

Kismet, Art & Life
Aren't these two cards so gorgeous! Dana's so super talented!
Pretty Pink Posh
Paulina made this super pretty Christmas card using her sketch from earlier this week (which you can still play along with)!

Thanks again for your support during this release! You can find Fall Fest and Christmas Wonder on our site.

Surprise! Introducing Christmas Wonder!

Oh do we have a surprise for you! We actually have one other stamp set releasing this month. We are so excited to show you our first Christmas set! And we are even more excited to share with you the designer. Our very own Karen Baker is joining Practicing Creativity as a contributing designer. Karen is so talented, and I just can't wait for you to see what all she has in store. She has such a great eye for design, and we are excited to be offering even more great stamps each month! Are you ready to see the set?

I was really excited to start working on Christmas cards. It's a must for me to start early! I wanted to use a non-traditional color scheme, and I really enjoy the way it turned out.

Do you notice anything familiar about my card? Oh yes, it's my sketch from yesterday! If you didn't see our sketches, make sure you check those out and play along for a chance to be our guest designer next month!

Also, the ribbon on my card will be available tonight at midnight eastern as well! We'll be releasing it in several colors, and it is just luscious!

And I know you'll want to go check out the design team's blogs:
The Bald Dragonfly
There are so many things I love about Karen's card. You will love the large sentiment in this set, and Karen's use of them is just perfect. And don't you love how she used the Olive Polka Dot Fabric tape? So cute. Karen also used her sketch from yesterday, and made a card great for reproducing for Christmas cards!

Pretty Pink Posh
Paulina used non-traditional colors as well to create a super elegant Christmas card. I love how she used the large piece and of course the swirls. Oh and I love this set paired with the argyle from Key to My Heart!

Kismet, Art & Life

Dana used her sketch as well from yesterday to make this gorgeous Christmas card. I just adore how she did that gradient effect on her sentiment. And doesn't that open line sentiment look so good embossed? You'll definitely want to check her blog because she has two more FABULOUS cards as well.

I have two videos for you today, if you like to see these two stamp sets in action!
Fall Fest:

You can also watch it on YouTube.

Christmas Wonder:

You can also watch it on YouTube.

So tonight's the night! Fall Fest and Christmas wonder will go on sale at midnight eastern. We also have tons of ribbon we'll be adding to the store. Oh and we just got tons of Fabric Tape back in stock! I'll be back later today to show you more of our new ribbon! But before you go, we need to give away Christmas Wonder. I'd love to know how you go about making your Christmas cards. Do you start early, do you put it off to the last minute, do you mass produce, or do you make originals for all of them?

Don't forget about our little sketch challenge from yesterday!
