Several months ago Chase and I found out our friends Sean and Christie were going to have a baby. I wanted to make them something special for the baby (I wish I could do this for everyone, but I honestly don't think I'll ever attempt it again! I'll have to think of something other than knitting to make for everyone else). I knitted a baby blanket.

I actually started knitting one day at the pool with my friend Ashley. I'm pretty sure the other people at the pool thought we were crazy, but it honestly didn't bother me at all. And I do enjoy knitting, it's actually pretty relaxing, well until my fingers start to hurt.

So here's the blanket. I didn't want to do baby blue, and Colin's room is sports themed so I thought this fit. Plus, I feel like this blanket will last longer since it's not too baby-ish.


Just a day after I was able to give this blanket to Sean and Christie, baby Colin came into the world! We are so excited about him!

master.

The master bedroom has actually been one of the easiest rooms to plan. I have always like the way it is set up in our apartment, and with a color other than off white on the walls I think it will be great.

Our furniture is actually my bedroom furniture from when I was a kid. It was a light wood like this (just the color):

When Chase and I first got married we decided to spray paint it black. It actually looks great. The closest picture I can find of it is:

We are going to paint the ways dark blue:

And lots of black and white photos, black shelves, black and white pillows and lamps.

Since my previous post about the guest bedroom, I've fallen in love with a duvet cover from Pottery Barn. Here is my second option for the guest bedroom:

Obviously Pottery Barn helped since they have already paired these two together, but I actually had noticed this color before.

Also, since I don't have furniture for this room yet, I'm thinging of making a white fabric headboard. Any other fabric suggestions?

Guest bedroom.

This is probably the room that I have the least visual illustrations for. Basically the idea for this room came from a magazine, and I can't seem to find it online. Here is a print I think sums it up pretty well:

So we have green walls. We don't currently own the furniture for this room, but hopefully we will soon. I want all of the furniture and comforter to be white. White everywhere to contrast with the green room and then some green pillows:

study, study schools your buddy.

I got the above title from my friend Andrea. Chase and I used to stay out late at her and her husband's house, and Chase would always need to be studying for seminary instead. When we would be leaving Andrea would say, "Study, Study schools your buddy." It makes me smile every time I think about it.

Onto the office. Here's the deal with the office. Chase needs an office and I need a craft room. Okay, I hear you, an office that Chase can use is probably more important, but it doesn't change the fact that I like to create 'stuff.' So hopefully we can make it work. We have this great desk that we made (with the help of my dad). We got an old door, made bookshelf/saw horse for the desk to sit on like this:

So we have pretty much what we need to get a nice office set up, but it's an office that needs to serve two purposes. Thankfully most of my craft stuff will be housed in a large closet that can be shut, but it will be interesting to see how it all works out. Of course Chase kindly (joking) said I was welcome to take over the laundry room! Ha! He also said I could have the guest bedroom to take over, but I actually like the idea of being in the same room and working. I like spending time with my husband.

In my dream world I would like to have one wall of cork, like this:

Unfortunately I have no idea how to do this, who to get to do this. I'm really at a loss! However, now that I write that I should probably ask my brother (he lays hardwood floors). I'm not sure that I've 100% sold Chase on this idea but this is the color I would like:

I'm honestly not a big red fan, but for some reason I love the way this looks. Plus, I would like to use some different colors. I'm naturally drawn to blue, green and yellow. What do you think?

a new home.

I've started to document some of progress with the house. I really want to make this album more about the process/story. With only one page complete, it looks different than anything else I've designed, but I'm actually really enjoying the process of writing and trying something different. Hopefully, I'll have more of these pages in the near future.
