Well, not actually working with a pattern, but using a sewing pattern on your card. Do you ever have one of those "why am I just now thinking of this?" moments?
Chase and I were washing my car Sunday, and I was cleaning a few things out of the trunk. My grandmother had given me a ton of old patterns and material to use. I guess one of the patterns had fallen out in my truck. As soon as I got it out I thought, "why haven't I used this on a card yet?" And that's exactly what I did:
I actually used two different section. The background paper is from the instructions in the pattern. The messy pinwheels are from the actual pattern. That lightweight tissue paper is great to use to make embellishments! Plus sewing and patterns seem to be all the rage these days, and since I can't sew this is a perfect use for me!
Paper: Sewing Pattern (Simplicity)
Cardstock: Vintage Cream (Papertrey Ink)
Stamp: One the Desk (Cornish Heritage Farms)
Ink: Onyx Black (VersaFine)
Ribbon: Navy Grosgrain (Offray); Ivory Crochet (May Arts)
Buttons: Cream (Papertrey Ink)
Thread: Ivory Heavy Duty (Coats and Clark)
Okay so what do you think? Do you have an old pattern laying around! I'd love to see your project if any of you break out patterns!

i'm not sure i'd be able to actually use a pattern on a card (besides, my mom would KILL ME LOL) but i love the way this looks...maybe she doesn't need to know?
the colors are just delicious, and so you
I love the card, great recycling.
I'll check out my sewing basket, must have tons of patterns somewhere.
Eveline.
Oh neat idea, I have heaps of patterns!
I ONLY sew on cards - so I wouldn't have any patterns around - LOL Looks like you made the flowers out of the same paper. Patterns are cool though - like kraft tissue paper sorta. Clever, you are!
Great idea girl! Love the flowers!
What an amazingly clever idea! I think you will definitely start a trend! And this card - WOW! Beautiful and creative!
oooo.. this is super cool.. recycling and a gorgeous card. Love the flowers, everything about it.. hugs....
Fabulous idea, patterns have so many interesting things that go on with their type and images, etc. And I like the monochromatic feel of your card as well.
sooooo lovin' this courtney!!! I don't have any old patterns...I think I gotta make a trip to the thrift store..LOL.
This is fabulous! I love your pinwheels and the pattern background - it's makes me think of my grandmother who used to sew clothes for me when I was little. She would have loved this card too :)
OMGOSH! This is one awesome card. Love how you used the pattern for the bg and those flowers are adorable. Thanks for this inspiring MOJO!
Girl what a great idea! I love it when a light bulb goes off in my head too! I can not sew either. I was not gifted with that talent but what a great way to incorporate sewing products in your card.

Love it! I dont have any old patterns, or new ones or know anyone that does LOL! Great job though!
Fantastic!
Fun, fun, fun, fun, FUN! I've been wanting to try this, but I need to find an old pattern that I don't care if I destroy. :) This is SO cool! :)
I have thought about doing the same thing, but just haven't yet. You sure make me want to try it now! :) It really is a pretty card!
Love your card, especially love the unique flowers you created with the pattern paper. I don't have any old patterns but I'll have to try that with tissue paper!!
I love it! I have loads from my mom and they look fabulous!
Perfect! Love the messiness of your pinwheels! And, why oh why haven't I thought about it?! ;-)
perfectly fabulous! love, love, LOVE this!
This is awesome! But, I'd have to buy some patterns because I don't have any laying around unfortunately. Love this idea!!
I love this card, Court! Nice job!
Look at you girl, awesome! And this card screams COURTNEY!! Love it.
It would be really cool to use the front of a vintage pattern (1940's-1950s) for the front of the card too - particularly for Mother's Day!
This is absolutely gorgeous, Courtney! Great idea & perfectly done :)
So creative, Courtney! And what a perfect use of old patterns and so appropriate for Earth Day too!!
What a great "a ha" moment! So clever.
OH MY! My mother is a prof taylor I bet I could get tons of patterns from her, even some from Europe! Your so smart! Love this card!
it's wonderful!
I think I have a couple of unused patterns lying around. Never used because my sewing machine stinks but now I at least have use for the patterns. What a fab idea! Great challenge for EBTKS!
Fabulous idea and I love your flowers!! ♥♥ Kay
Very cool idea and very pretty card!
I love using patterns on my cards and pages! They are so fun!
Love the flowers.

This is so neat!! Love your idea, Courtney! It's fantabulous!
awesome way to use those patterns! love those tissue pinwheels/flowers! fabulous card!
I LOVE this, Courtney! I wish I still had some patterns. I donated them a few years ago since I was only using my sewing machine to hem or fix existing clothes. I should ask my mom to mail me an unwanted pattern.
LOL!!! What will you think of next?!?! I have plenty of patterns...I guess I will have to decide which one I am really never going to make. I am always a little over ambitious when it comes to sewing. Sew many projects, sew little time!
Courtney this is just so fabulous!!
Girl! This is over the top cool!! And totally trendy! Love it!!!
I'm a beginner sewer and have a few patterns hanging around--thanks for the great idea!
Super creative!! Love your flowers, too! What an awesome card :)
In a word? GORGEOUS!! Love it, girlie! Thank you so much for playing along w/us this week @2S4Y! :)
no old patterns laying around, but I do have some kraft tissue paper just waiting to made into something. Can't wait to try making some flowers with it!
Gorgeous card!!!
Oh wow! I am LOVING this card! Those flowers are awesome!
I can't believe it--I said I needed a pattern about three months ago to my grandma--I wanted to use it just like you did for a submission...of course, when she got here (for her vaca) she didn't give me one! I can't believe we had the same idea--although, your stuff always is more creative and prettier than mine! So all ends well:) Great stuff:)
so unique!!! during the PTI blog hop, someone was using old pages from an old hymn book!! I've been using my old poetry book from college for script paper...I need to dig out some of my old patterns now too!! Love this idea :)
I can't part with my 'old' patterns (another hoarding obsession of mine:)...but, I certainly do love what you did with yours. What a beautiful card, Courtney!
