CPS 133

I was so excited to use some of my new pattern paper that I think all of my creative juices went out the window. There was just too much to choose from. So I decided to use the CPS sketch this week.

I basically flipped it. And came up with this:

I'm really happy with how it turned out. I only wish I would have had to forthought to move the tree with the heart to the right, but I'll get that next time, right?

Stamps: Glee, American Crafts (I so love their stamps right now)
Pattern Paper: Cherry Hill, October Afternoon
Cardstock: Vintage Cream, PTI
Buttons: Lemon Tart, PTI

On the edges of this project, I knew I wanted some sort of scallop, but I still don't have that large scallop punch that I want so bad! So I pulled out what I had - some random chipboard. And in the word of my favorite Tim Gunn, I made it work!

On another note, I've always been a big believer in Black Stazon. I just feel like it works, and it produces such a great crisp image. Well at CK Nashville, I could tell my beloved Black Stazon was running out. While I was shopping I grapped a super small thing on Black Memento. I thought I had heard it was good, and maybe it is on rubber stamps, but this is what I got tonight.

Uh... that's not good. That's bad, really bad. What's your favorite black? I need to know!

I really like your card, Courtney! The color pallette is quite refreshing. :> I use a ton of different black inks.....your favorite, Staz On, onyx Versafine (I really like this on clear stamps), India Ink by Stewart Superior (I don't use this on clear stamps though as it doesn't come off of some), chalk inks, and occasionally, but definitely not my favorite SU!'s black (which doesn't always look really black....I like the rest of their inks, just not the black so much). Let us know what you end up finding! :>

Okay, so, um.. {You weren't too happy with the tree/heart placement?} SERIOUSLY! I think it's perfect! Has a real nice flow from sentiment to buttons on the right bottom: I love it! Great paper and STUFF! Man, you must have had a ball at that show! I adore the card! I just heard about the Memento ink or whatever that is, but I've yet to try it. I'm totally with Karen, and even in the same order! (oh, except for the India ink, which I have, but have never used for card making... I love versafine, but Staz On is really my "go-to" black, especially for ANYTHING that requires coloring, etc.

You on FIRE, girl!

This is a great card. I'm interested in the black ink recommendations too. Tomorrow is the day that I'll be sending out details on our swap:) Can't wait!!! So exciting.

Cute Cute card Courtney! I LOVE IT! My fav black is really True Black ... PTI (of course). But... I use StazOn when going to color with copics... the true black will bleed/run.. whatever it does!

Hey Courtney! What a cute card! I love those papers, the colors are great! I too love black StazOn, I just bought a new one today, because mine was getting low! I think you had asked me before about the big scallop punch and what paper it would punch. Sorry I'm just answering you, but I was having trouble with all paper but thick cardstock! It would get stuck, but I returned that one and got a new one, and it works Great! I think someone else had trouble with one too, because it was on the shelf with paper stuck in it! It might be good to test it out at the store first! :)

sweet card courtney...love the colors!

I use memento all the time...with the clear stamps I typically rub the stamp on my jeans...and then ink it up...odd huh? I think I read it somewhere. I will have to test out the PTI black that Miss Kelley & Miss Maile uses though...

Yes you did, "Make it work"!! In fact, you did more than make it work! This is darling, Courtney!! The placement of your heart tree is perfect and the scallops look great!

I, too am a fan of Staz On black. ♥♥ Kay

Awesome card! love it! I have issues with my inks and especially with black and white...I should be getting my black staz on in the mail any day....I have ColorBox and Adir...can't remember but it's by Ranger I think...they're not bad but sometimes it's just not crisp enough...maybe it's the cardstock I use sometimes.....I don't know...I'm pretty new at this and still trying to figure things out!

oooh, yes! Love this card! Those trees are SOOO cute! I haven't found a black I like either... which is why I always stamp with basic gray or chocolate chip! I don't even own a large black ink pad! Gasp, right?

Love your card Courtney!!! Every little detail is perfect ;) As far as my go to black I think Is Noir by Palette. It's never let me down ;) Let us know what you end up getting :)

Cute card, Courtney. I had to read all the comments about black ink. I don't like Stampin' Up's black too much. I've had good luck with PTI's True Black, but haven't tried coloring around it (although I believe Kelley when she says it bleeds!). And, as far as the scallop punch goes, I love mine, but, like Winter, have had trouble with it getting stuck when using it with paper -- fine with cardstock. Weird.

Love this card! The pattern paper, the doodle swirls, the American Crafty goodness. You made it work, girl! :) "Courtney, you are the winner of this challenge. You have immunity for the next challenge" *said with a German accent*

Okay, I'll stop now. My fav black inks are Papertrey's true black and Ranger Adirondack pitch black. Part of your problem might be the Am. Crafts stamps. I don't think they are photopolymer and therefore don't hold ink well. Try putting versamark on the stamp first and then putting it in ink and see if that works better? You never know!

Okay, I will end my super long comment now! :)

what a great card!!

my favorite black ink? hands down is onyx black versafine. i'm a huge su ink lover, but can't stand the basic black. i don't love stazon because it's a pain to get off. i did try tuxedo black memento ink (since a lot of my friends swear by it) but i always go back to versafine. to me it's the perfect black ink.

the Versafine black Onyx is amazing for getting those little details!
